About Me

Over a 25-year career as a Chartered Accountant, I supported businesses around the world to develop their financial and commercial operations. Along the way I lived and worked in 5 countries on 4 continents and held the positions of CFO, COO and CEO as well as serving on numerous boards. My expertise is with customer facing businesses, with a particular focus on bars, restaurants and retail operations.

 

Throughout my life, my true passion has always been travel, and my nomadic career provided ample opportunities to see the world.  I have flown over 1.3 million miles, I have visited over 100 countries as well as all 50 US states.

 

Enter 2020. With all of my clients in some form of suspended animation, I found myself with time on my hands and took the opportunity to start a YouTube channel – www.youtube.com/mattsplanet. Through this medium, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed sharing the knowledge I’ve gained and the experiences I’ve had. I’ve not previously aspired to be known as a “creative accountant”, but now it’s a label I’m happy to embrace.

 

So to 2021. My ambition is to blend these professional and creative worlds. I will continue to develop my YouTube channel around the goals of entertaining, educating and inspiring my audience.  But I will simultaneously look to consult with customer facing businesses to share the knowledge and experience I have built over the years. Areas of particular interest will be:

 

• Online / Social Media strategy

• Customer service evaluation and development

• Customer experience evaluation and development – through mystery shopping, benchmarking and/or operational and financial analysis
